"According to the plan of God, marriage is the foundation of the wider community of the family, since the very institution of marriage and conjugal love is ordained to the procreation and education of children, in whom it finds its crowning …
When they become parents, spouses receive from God the gift of a new responsibility. Their parental love is called to become for the children the visible sign of the very love of God, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.”
Pope John Paul II
“On the Christian Family in the Modern World”

Twenty-five years ago, in 1983, the Pro-Life Movement of the Philippines, which was begun nine years earlier, was officially registered as a Foundation. To commemorate this landmark event in its history, Pro-Life held a simple program last September 20 to coincide with its major fundraising activity for this year, the presentation of Repertory’s stage production “Mulan, Jr.”, a story that emphasizes, fittingly, the importance of family, love, integrity, and courage.

Most of the time, when I tell people that I work for Pro-Life, the first thing that comes to their mind is abortion. While it is true that the battle against abortion is the most serious and pressing concern of Pro-Life, many don’t know that Pro-Life is also fundamentally concerned with promoting the Filipino Family. In fact, Pro-Life maintains active membership in the National Committee on the Filipino Family (NCFF) spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Saint Michael prayer campaign update
Human Life International is happy to report that our multi-lingual web page is now available promoting the international Saint Michael Prayer Campaign for the conversion of abortionists and the triumph of life worldwide. As previously mentioned, we have expanded our efforts for the initiative and with this special web page, we are making available translations of the Church’s Saint Michael prayer in about 20 languages of the world.
We formally encourage you to promote and participate in the prayer campaign, and to add the following link to any website that you may have:
We all know that God’s triumph over the culture of death will come only from the Church - - and that all of our efforts must be based on prayer, the great weapon in our spiritual warfare. Thank you for your solidarity in the global fight for life!

Manila, Philippines -- The Philippine Court of Appeals recently rejected claims made by a radical pro-abortion group based in New York. The court dismissed an effort seeking to overturn an executive order promoting natural family planning.
The petition was filed earlier this year by a group of Manila residents who relied heavily on legal advice and material from the international pro-abortion litigation group, the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR).
Executive Order No. 003 was instituted in February 2000 by then-mayor of Manila, Jose Atienza. The executive order “upholds natural family planning not just as a method but as a way of self-awareness in promoting the culture of life while discouraging the use of artificial methods of contraception.”
CRR admits that the executive order technically applies only to city health centers and hospitals and does not explicitly ban “artificial” contraception.
