WHAT PRO-LIFE PHILIPPINES HAS DONE THUS FAR
Pro-Life Philippines has remained the vanguard in upholding and defending the value of human life from conception to natural death. The mission set forth by its founder, Sister Mary Pilar Versoza, RSG may have been fulfilled many times over. But the work continues as we face an ever evolving environment that challenges our resolve to keep the Philippines pro-life and pro-family.
The seminars, trainings and other instruction, education and communication efforts have cascaded to local communities, schools, parishes and other organizations that contributed to the formation of family and life commissions throughout the country. To date, it has given 195 seminars with more than 775,204 participants.
Millions of people have also been enriched and informed by Pro-Life Philippines and its members through radio programs, TV and radio interviews, newspaper articles and videos.
The Foundation has also reached out to other religious denominations and has been quite successful in enriching their perspectives on life and family. This has been clearly manifested in the growing number of individual Pro-Life warriors and advocates and the strengthening of Pro-Life coalitions and alliances.
In collaboration with other organizations, Pro-Life Philippines has successfully thwarted the ever-aggressive efforts of other social and political forces to legalize abortion; same sex marriage; mainstreaming of homosexual relationships; institutionalization of divorce and euthanasia. It has contributed much in the debate on why the death penalty should not be restored in the Philippines. It likewise continues in its campaign to end the violence and the killings that have been made pervasive in the current dispensation. All these are being undertaken in various publics through the use of social media and its radio programs.
A quiet but very powerful contribution is the counselling of troubled families and teens, especially pregnant women. For more than 40 years, Pro-Life Philippines counsellors have helped at least 85,480 people in these counselling sessions, saving countless lives who have become productive citizens of our country.
Pro-Life Foundation is similarly engaged in more basic efforts such as collaborating with local parishes and governments for the establishment of “Tombs of the Unborn” such as the ones in Manila North and South Cemeteries and the Catholic Cemetery of Our Lady of Abandoned in Marikina City. It works with other institutions and tap on their capabilities in running half way houses for battered women and children and pregnant women needing shelter and likewise facilitates in certain instances the adoption of babies of women who opted out of the abortion option.
These are some of the accomplishments the Foundation have with respect to the mission set forth from its inception in the late seventies. Accomplishments which the former and current board of trustees intend to continue with your kind partnership, patronage and financial support.
PRO-LIFE PHILIPPINES MILESTONES
1974 – Fr. Paul Mark, OSB came to the Philippines To conduct a seminar Sr. Pilar Verzosa, RGS who was then working for the single mothers was moved by the impassioned exhortation of Fr. Paul to promote Pro-Life in the Philippines
Dec. 5,1975 – Pro-Life Philippines picketed the DOH against the Population Control Program
1978 – The Pro-Life Movement was formally launçhed
Dec 11,1983 – The first National Convention, Pro-Life Philippines Becomes a Foundation
1987 – Held a rally at the Mendiola and launched the radio program Buhay Kalingain (BUKAL)
1988 – Through the lobby effort of Pro-Life Philippines, we marked another milestone when former Pres. Cory Aquino signed Presidential Proclamation 214 declaring every second week of February nationwide as the start of Respect & Care for Life Week
1988 – Pro-Life Philippines picketed at the Parliamentarians Conference at PICC and confronted the advocates of population control in the government.
The youth started getting involved in 1989 as they were invited to a Pro-Life seminar. Through the Teen Sexuality Seminar, the youth organized Youth for Life Chapters in their respective schools & parishes. Not to be outdone was the nurses who organized SANBUHAY or Nurses For Life
1990 – Organized 2 rallies in July & August: the Anti World Population Rally at PICC & picket rally in-front of abortion clinic in Malate, Manila
1992 – Prominent Pro-Life Advocacy & Lobby Coalition: Sen. Joey Lina, Sen. Kit Tatad, Sen. Tito Sotto, Vice Mayor Jose L. Atienza, Jr., El Shaddai Leader Mike Velarde, Charismatic Leader Willy Nakar and Sonny Delos Reyes pledged their support for the Coalition
1993 – Pro-Life Philippines established the Rachel’s Support Group for women who are suffering the effects of abortion, ligation & contraception.
Jan. 1994 – Radio Counseling Program was aired entitled “Little People, Little Friends” in DWSS K-love radio
1995 – Historical visit of Pope John Paul II: Pro- life Philippines prepared for Pro-Life Week Celebration “Bawat Sanggol, Ipagtanggol” in consonance with the Launching of His Holiness teaching about the inherent value of every human life born & unborn
Feb. 14, 2002 – Searched for Pro-Life Baby was launched
One of the significant achievements of Pro-Life Philippines Movement was former Pres. Gloria Arroyo’s Proclamation 586 declaring 25th of March as the Day of the Unborn
Feb. 21, 2004 – First Festival of Twins was held in Luneta in cooperation of the Manila City Government, Philippine Tourism, PCSO, DSWD and Association of Twins headed by Mrs. Natalie Palanca
Nov. 2006 – recipient of the Jaime Cardinal Sin Serviam Award

2008 – Pro-Life Philippines held a Plant A Tree for life held at Benigno Aquino Parks & Wildlife
Aug. 22 – 26, 2008 – Pro-Life Philippines responded to the call of truth as it participated in the Truth Festival organized by the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines held at Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
Sept. 2008 – 25th Anniversary of Pro-Life Philippines conducted a fundraising activity through a Repertory’s stage production “Mulan, Jr.”, & launching of Commemorative Magazine, “The Best of LIFE,” which puts together the people, the places and the significant events that figured in all 25 years of Pro-Life’s history.
2010 – Three new Radio Programs: Digma ng Buhay, Host Mr. Ansel Beluso, Ang Turo ng Inang Simbahan and Gising Kapatid hosted by Mr. Eric Manalang & Rizalito David
Organized six communities: Friends of Smokey Mountain, Tondo; KALAP, Dasmariñas, Cavite; SALAKAB, Paco, San Andres, Vito Cruz, Kaingin- Balara
2010 – Pro-Life Philippines released Official Statement and Position Papers concerning life and family issues as part of its advocacies.

2012 – Supreme Court declared that contraceptives that are abortifacient are unconstitutional
